It's Official...Toddlerhood.

In addition to Google Friend Connect (the blue "join this site" button to the right), be sure to follow my blog via Blog Lovin', since Google Reader will be going away soon. It's SUPER easy to use...actually a lot easier and better than Google Reader!

I think it's official...we have a toddler.
I hate to say that, because he will always be my little baby Landon (yes, I'm that mother).

Over the past week, Landon has been doing so many new things! As you know, our little man has been taking steps here and there for a while. Well, within the past week, Landon has decided that crawling is apparently not the most efficient way to get around. The kid is walking everywhere. We are loving this stage (even though we know that running and climbing are not too far now!). He looks SO cute, because he is still working on his balance (as you can see in the video below). He really stomps when he walks and sticks out his cute diaper butt. AHHHHHH, we just can't get enough!

On the talking front, Landon is babbling non-stop! His newest word that he's added to his vocabulary is banana. The kid LOVES bananas. If he sees one, he goes nuts and wants to eat it all (...and does). If you say the word, he won't stop saying it until you let him eat a banana. At least we're passing along our healthy values to him!

Regarding his teething, Landon's second tooth has come in! Little man is on his way to a mouth full of teeth! He has been a little cranky and sick as a result, but you can tell he's still trying to be his normal, smiley self!

Since Landon was a wee little baby, Chris and I have always tried to "animate" what we are doing when we're with Landon. For example, when we change his diaper, we explain what action we're doing. It could be something like, "Okay Landon, now we are going to take off your diaper. Now it's time to put a new diaper on. Let's get dressed. I need your legs so I can put on your pants." Stuff like that. Well, apparently Landon has been listening this whole time...who knew? He is understanding different questions we ask him. Example:  Recently, Landon was sitting on his changing pad and I needed to get him undressed for his bath. I said, "Landon, please stand up." Wouldn't you have it...he stood right up (I was soooo excited, but tried to contain it so I didn't freak him out!). Then I said, "Good boy, Landon! Okay, lift up your arms." Landon then lifted his arms in the air (eeekkkk, I was so excited). I took off his shirt, then took off his bottoms. Next I said, "What a good boy, Landon! Can you please sit down?" He sat down immediately on his changing pad, started smiling like crazy and then clapped for himself. This was one very proud momma!

Well, that's it from this chick today. I hope you all have a great weekend! We have a gender reveal party to attend tonight for two of our best friends. We can't wait!

{Trendy Tot Tuesday}

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be co-hosting the Trendy Tot Tuesday link-up this week with Mrs. In Training, Table For Three, and Baby Mama Drama.

Since Chris and I did not find out the gender of our baby before I delivered, we stocked up on a lot of gender-neutral outfits for our little bundle to wear until we went shopping for gender-specific clothing. I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of my favorite gender-neutral outfits this week! Not only was it fun to not find out the gender during our pregnancy, but it is very nice that we now have a lot of clothes to welcome Baby Askey #2 into the world (whenever that happens!).

Looking cute and smiley in his teddy bears.

Napping in his ducks.

Playtime in duckies.

Napping in his green sleeper with froggies.

Hanging out with Auntie Riles in his bears.

This week's Trendy Tot of the Week is Hudson!

Basement Makeover

Chris and I recently gave our basement a big makeover and I couldn't wait to share it with you! We re-painted, re-arranged and got rid of some furniture, got new light fixtures and added a new piece of furniture!

Here are a few BEFORE pictures:

Drumroll please...

Here is our basement AFTER!

The dog blanket on the end of the sectional is a must-have for our Colby!
It's her "spot" to wait for her treat whenever she comes in from outside.

Our new 1 1/2 chair with ottoman is my new fav spot!

Landon's Grandpa & MeMaw built him some great book cubbies for his birthday!

I love our new DVD rack. We were able to get rid of the ones on the floor and mount this. It is called a "Prepac Triple Wall Mounted Storage Shelf". They sell it at dozens of retailers, but I ended finding the best deal at Wal-Mart with free site-to-store shipping!

I hope you enjoyed the tour and possibly found some good ideas for your basement/rec room!

…To change certain things about your spouse. To a certain extent, I don’t buy into the whole “accept them for who they are” mantra. I welcome constructive criticism if it means the other person is a little bit happier and loves me even more! After all, forever is a long time. :)

…That I’ve been counting down the days until daylight savings time this weekend. I can’t wait to push my clocks ahead 1 hour so there is more daylight after work!

…To be compulsive about sending thank you notes.

…To never get out of bed when my alarm goes off.

…That Panera & grocery shopping with my boys on the weekends is my new favorite thing.

…That running season is almost here. I can’t wait for all of the road races that are coming up!

…To be super excited about how interactive the readers are on my blog. I love, love, love the comments! Be sure you’re not a ‘no reply’ blogger so I can respond!

Hey all you tweeters out there:
Are you participating in Sara's Me In March "event"? It's not too late - you should definitely check it out. Click here for her post about it!

I’ll believe it when I see it.

I woke up this morning thinking I was going to be working from home. The past few days have been filled with meteorologists and co-workers talking non-stop about the “snow storm” that would be hitting the Baltimore and DC metro area. Y’all know how much I’ve been wishing for a snow storm this winter. I LOVE snow and I hate that we only had a few dustings this winter. When I first heard about the snow we were supposed to get, I held off on getting super excited. I’ll believe it when I see it, I thought. I didn’t want to get too excited for something and then be let down.

When my alarm went off this morning, I went downstairs to start my usual morning routine. I stopped for a second to look out one of our living room windows and saw something very unexpected. Hardly any snow. Seriously? (Thank goodness I didn’t hold my breath for this snow.)

I got ready for work, packed my lunch and drove to work. It looked like we had some rain. That’s it

Don't worry. I was going slow, being safe & there were no other cars around me.
Plus, it took me about .2 seconds to take this photo.

My hubs is working from home today, so he is spending lots of QT with little Landon. They say it is supposed to get worse throughout the day, so I promised Chris I would leave work if it started to get bad, because I could just work the rest of the day from home. Once again, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I'll go ahead and write what everyone is thinking:
If I was wrong as much as meteorologists, I would be out of a job.
